From the Thong Cai Medical Center website:

Thong Chai Building which houses our clinic was built in 1976 and the then Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew graced the opening ceremony. The Institution's daily operating expenses are funded by the donations from the caring and generous public without any subsidies from the government. Every year, we need $3 million for our operations.

Having gone through 33 years of operations, Thong Chai Building needs to be renovated. At present, we provide TCM medical care to more than 500 patients daily. To cater for the increasing number of patients, our clinic has to be expanded and medical facilities and equipment need to be replaced and upgraded. Including annual medical fund, $6 million is needed for the project.

STCMI is organising a Thong Chai Charity Night to be held on 21 March 2010 at Mediacorp Auditorium. It will be telecast live on TV on Channel 8. Our aim is to raise fund of $3.5 million. During the show, our Charity Ambassador - international superstar Mr Jackie Chan, together with overseas and local star artistes and philanthropists will join us in this meaningful event to provide great and exciting performance.

We sincerely hope that you will be keen to support us in this event. Your kind and generous donation not only will benefit more than 500 patients daily, but it will also help tremendously Thong Chai's unwavering efforts in building Singapore towards a kind and philanthropic society.
