Jackie Chan International Cinema 耀萊國際影城 has sold a slew of international rights to its imminently released historical action film Legendary Amazons 楊門女將之軍令如山.
It will release in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia on 17 Nov, through Mei Ah Films Distributing Co Ltd 美亞電影發行有限公司, Shaw Renters (S) Pte Ltd and Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd respectively, and in China on 18 Nov through Shanghai Film Group Corp 上海電影集團公司.
Deals struck since Cannes and in the past few days include those for Thailand (Sahamongkolfilm International Co Ltd สหมงคลฟิล์ม อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล), the US (Well Go USA Inc), the UK (Showbox Media) and Australia and New Zealand (China Lion Film Distribution Inc).
The $16 million film, directed by Frankie CHAN 陳勳奇, is derived from a series of books and plays referred to as Generals of the Yang Clan (楊家將) which recount the unflinching loyalty of four generations of warriors from one Northern Han family.
It is the biggest lead role in many years for actress Cecilia CHEUNG 張柏芝, and also stars Richie REN 任賢齊, LIU Xiaoqing 劉曉慶, XIAO Mingyu 肖明玉 and martial arts legend CHENG Pei-pei 鄭佩佩.
JCIC has also struck deals with intermediaries and local agents in South Korea, Spain, Portugal, Africa and East Europe.
