The special clothing worn by Jackie Chan in "12 Chinese Zodiacs" was invented by French skating guru Jean Yves Blondeau. It weighs about 17 kg. Wheels are fitted to the chest, back, hands, elbows, knees, legs, feet and can reach a top speed of over 126 kph.
Jackie had to master the skill of using the equipment within a very short time which Jean Yves bluntly admitted "was an almost impossible task". Jackie admitted that "these actions can not be done by ordinary people!"
Jackie revealed that a short three-minute scene took a month and a half to film. The most dangerous action was to slide under the car. I must maintain absolute balance, otherwise I will be drawn into the bottom of the vehicle and wheels. Such pressure! At that moment, I was afraid. I'm not Superman, but I desperately wanted to do the scene."
Jackie went on to say that there is a gap in the technological capability between Chinese filmmakers and Hollywood when it comes to making CGI. So he asked himself "How can we compete?" For him the only answer was to go back to what he knew best - Jackie Chan style martial arts and action. Jackie also said that for many years people have said that he is old, but just because I am older does not mean I can't move. With Zodiac I want to say to these people "I am not old".
