This is the stage we’re at on our latest film project, The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan, which has recently moved into production, shooting around London locations. There have been a lot of loud bangs reverberating around our backlot recently - all in preparation for some pretty impressive pyro effects we're providing for the film. I don’t know what this guy’s role was in it all, but I can’t help but assume that he met a rather nasty end…

Jackie was filming this scene when he took a break from filming and dropped into a nearby pub:

Kung Fu king Jackie Chan put down his nunchucks and last week tried his hand at darts in a Walworth pub, writes Sean Morrison…

The martial arts mega star popped into The Good Intent in East Street as he was filming near the pub.

Vince McDonald, the pub landlady’s husband, was shocked when the martial arts film star walked into the pub and waved him over for a match.

Vince was impressed with the globally known film star’s throwing arm, but was convinced he would have beaten him in a competitive match.

He said: “He could throw a treble twenty, I’ll put it that way, but I think I could have beaten him. “I just didn’t want him to chop me, so I went a little bit easy on him.”

The 45-year-old gave the globally known film star his personal Tottenham Hotspur set of darts, along with an orange juice, before he was called over for a round in The Good Intent.

Chan reportedly said he would love to come back, and complemented the owner on the pub. Nobody seemed star-struck and it felt like business as usual, according to pub landlady, Wendy McDonald, 42, when the martial arts mega star arrived about 10:30am last Thursday.

“No one caused a fuss, which is one reason why he probably felt so comfortable being in here,” she said. “It was a huge shock though, of course, and everyone hasn’t stopped talking about it since.”

Filming for The Foreigner, which stars Chan and Pierce Brosnan, was taking place in East Street, near the pub – where the Hong Kong actor and stuntman was spotted in an imported telephone box.

Paying a flying visit from Hong Kong just for CNY!

We're joining the largest Chinese New Year celebrations outside Asia as the Capital gears up to wish Londoners and international visitors “Kung Hei Fat Choi”, with a special visit from the wax likenesses of Chinese martial arts masters Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

The striking figures will travel from our attractions in Hong Kong and Shanghai to take up residence here in London in time to welcome in The Year of the Horse on Friday January 31. BUT, visitors to London’s famous Chinatown can get a sneak preview as both figures will be paying a special visit to Gerrard Street in the run up to Chinese New Year on Wednesday January 29. Members of the public will be able to get up close to the legendary Lee and Chan and pose for pictures with them.

The figures will be in Gerrard Street for the afternoon before returning here to Baker Street to take up residence at the attraction, where they will remain until mid April 2014. We will be throwing Lee and Chan a New Year celebration on Saturday February 1, with performances of the high-energy, high-impact traditional Lion Dance at regular intervals. Our attraction will also feature customary decorations and music, with the historic building also being lit up in lucky red. Guests can also have a peek at what’s in store for them in the coming year with a free fortune cookie*.

Guests will be able to pose alongside legends Lee and Chan throughout the New Year period. Lee is portrayed in his trademark yellow and black all in one, his face deep in concentration poised ready to spring into action. Chan is in a more relaxed pose with his familiar large smile and dressed casually in a denim outfit.

Beijing Culture Week London 2012

Jackie meets Liwen Pei at the Beijing Culture Week.

Beijing Culture Week is sponsored by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and China Embassy in the UK, the culture week is supported by the Mayor of London's office, and organized by the Beijing Association for Cultural Exchanges. As part of an agreement to boost cultural and creative exchanges between China and the United Kingdom, Beijing Culture Week is an interactive culture experience of Beijing aimed at making the Olympics about more than just sports.

Jackie "Filming East Festival"

On 7th July 2012, Jackie Chan will appear on the big screen to introduce Little Big Soldier and his new film Chinese Zodiac to the audience of Filming East Festival. Directed by Jackie Chan himself, this is the 100th in his life. The official trailer will also be screened the first time in the UK.

Master Shi Henglong is a Coach of National Excellence in the Chinese Wushu Assocoiation, who raised numerous national champions in China. As a former member of the original Official Shaolin Temple Fighting Monks Delegation he has been devoted his life to teaching Shaolin Kung-fu to the world.

Jackie Invited to Run with Olympic Torch

Kylie Minogue, Will Smith, Pele and Jackie Chan have been lined up to run with the London Olympic Flame, the Mirror can reveal.

The A-listers have been identified by organisers as the ideal celebrities to raise the profile of the UK abroad by taking part in the hugely popular relay, which starts in May.

Tourism chiefs sent out invites to carry the Flame in the last few weeks as they bid to capitalise on worldwide interest in Britain during the Games.

A source said: “This is one of the biggest events that Britain will ever host, and only the biggest stars in the world will do.

“We need people who are cultural icons in their own country to really make an impression - and who better than these ambassadors?

“They are loved in their home countries for all the right reasons, and that is exactly what is needed.

“The Torch Relay will be a real highlight of the whole Olympic campaign and with the calibre of people expected to run, it will be an amazing spectacle.”

Tourist board bosses know the eyes of the world will be on the Flame as it makes the 8,000-mile journey around Britain to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London.

And they are determined to make the most of the occasion by recruiting A-list stars from the worlds of sport and showbiz to run across the UK with the Flame.

Today marks just 150 days until the Opening Ceremony on Friday 27 July. The 70-day Torch Relay begins on May 19 and will take in 1,019 places and be carried by 8,000 Torchbearers.

Pop queen Kylie, 43, is considered the ideal Australian to carry the Flame and will be cheered on her way by her thousands of dedicated fans.

US actor and rapper Smith, 43, is best known for his roles in blockbusters such as Independence Day, Men In Black and Bad Boys.

Brazilian Pele, 71, is widely considered to be the best footballer in history and won the World Cup for his country three times.

And action man Chan, 57, started his career as a martial arts expert but has forged a role as one of Hollywood’s highest-earning action men, starring in hit movie series Rush Hour.

London 2012 organisers have planned the route to allow the Flame to come within 10 miles of 95% of the population.

It will pass through every English county and every local authority area in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and even visit Dublin on a unique one-day trip.

I don't usually post these paparazzi type photos of Jackie entering or leaving restaurants or hotels because I regard them as an invasion of privacy but as these show Jackie pausing to take photos with fans after eating out, which just shows how great he is, I will bend my rule a little.

The original caption reads that Jackie was recognised by fans after leaving Nobu Berkley in London recently and paused to take photos with them.

Like the older Nobu London, this high-gloss hot spot plays host to a cast of A-list celebs & attendant voyeurs who make lots of noise – especially in the ground-floor bar (see separate review). Upstairs, lone diners are assigned their own chef at the sushi counter, parties cluster around the hibachi table, & couples occupy more intimate berths by the window. The ‘fabulous’ food is intended for sharing. Nobu’s famous black cod is always on the menu, while other favourites include yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño & yuzu dressing, & rock shrimp tempura. This branch also boasts a wood-fired oven, which might deliver Ibérico pork steak, duck breast with wasabi salsa, or brown rice miso paella. Saké starts at £17 per bamboo container, Champagne from £12.50 a glass, & wines inhabit the financial stratosphere; the non-alcoholic cocktails are highly recommended. Gripes tend to centre on ‘faltering’ & ‘surly’ service’, although few would argue with Nobu’s slinky, low-lit aura.

Chef: Mark Edwards

As group executive chef of Nobu's London restaurants, Mark Edwards is the culinary right-hand man to celebrated Japanese maestro Nobuyuki Matsuhisa. Edwards started out working in a seafood restaurant in Kent at the age of 13, then worked his way through London's Café Royal & the legendary George V hotel in Paris before finding he had an affinity for Asian cuisine while cooking in Manhattan during the late 1980s. After a stint at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel in Singapore & the Peninsula in Hong Kong, he returned to London as sous chef at the former Vong restaurant at the Berkeley hotel, then worked at Nobu in California before launching their London outpost in 1997. He opened Ubon in 2000 & Nobu Berkeley St five years later.

Don’t be fazed by the A-listers, WAGs, motley sports stars & others who seem to make up the lion’s share of Nobu’s flashy clientele. Berkeley St’s late, late bar is a cool trough for classy cocktail hounds, & David Collins’ audaciously idiosyncratic design – think UFO meets lurid kids’ TV show – still captivates the eye. Date-friendly, shimmery lighting is a plus, but the thunderous acoustics & ‘shrieking’ soundtrack might have you yearning for a rock-drummer’s earplugs. Beautifully crafted pineapple martinis, mules & mojitos are given a Japanese twist, while informed bartenders will discuss the arcane complexities of premium shochu & saké such as the delicate Hokusetsu Sado No Junmai & expense-account 35-year-old Cho Dai-Gingo. Cristal is less expensive here than in similarly starry haunts, but give us 27 Sakepolitans for the same money any day.
