从8月8号灾害发生后，成龙就开始了舟曲援助的计划，在多次评估道路和灾区状况调研后，成龙首先捐款一百万元。他表示由于自己忙于拍戏，实在无法分身亲自前往舟曲，所以此次派弟子新七小福前往舟曲。除了赠送卫生用品外，更重要的希望他们现场收集受灾情况和灾区的需求，以计划下一步的援助行动。成龙表示自己一定会在将来亲自前往舟曲送去爱心。
从下飞机到舟曲县城要经过10个小时的车程，还没抵达舟曲县，沿途就已经可以看到泥石流的受灾房屋和以简易帐篷搭建的抗洪救灾指挥点，虽然道路已经恢复通车，但是依然沿途可见危险警告的指示牌。
本次捐赠的接收单位舟曲卫生局也是洪水泥石流受灾严重的单位之一，县医院、妇幼保健院都被泥石流所掩埋，带来的卫生用品只能暂时安放在卫生局大院损毁房屋旁的空地上，看到这一幕新七小福和工作人员都难以控制心中的悲伤。当地的灾民看到新七小福们的到来也深受感动，他们也感受到了成龙浓浓的爱心。其中有人提议，大家一起把心中的情感用一个大大的“爱”字表达出来，让全国乃止海外关心舟曲的人都能够看到舟曲的坚强，把悲伤和更多的爱都转化为支持的力量。收到这样的礼物和爱意，当地居民也表示非常的感动。在新七小福表示自己来的有些晚表现歉意的时候，他们说爱心是没有期限的，多晚都不嫌晚。
新七小福和当地灾民一起努力，几分钟就摆出了一个大大的“爱”字。这份爱不但传递给了现场的每一个人，并且已经通过新七小福的微博，传递到了师父成龙的微博，又传递给了无数个人。新七小福表示，物质上的援助，总是有限的，但精神上的援助，力量是无限的；除了能提供的物质援助和精神援助，还要尽自己最大努力把舟曲的创伤、舟曲的坚强传播出去，用自己的爱影响身边的人、影响每一个人，这才是他们跟随师父，不懈的努力去做一个公众人物所想要达到的目标。
